This power trio, comprising brothers Pat, John and Tommy McManus, hailed from Northern Ireland. Mama's Boys came along at the tail end of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal explosion and enjoyed considerable success riding on the crest of that wave. Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy was a big fan of the band and championed them in their early days. The band issued several albums during the early to mid-'80s, including 1982's Plug It In, 1983's Turn It Up, 1984's self-titled release, 1985 Power And Passion (which originally appeared on the Jive/BMG record label in the UK), and 1987's Growing Up The Hard Way, which brought the band some success in Europe. Mama's Boys enjoyed US MTV success with a cover of Slade's 'Mama We're All Crazee Now'. Pat and John went on to form the Folk Rock band Celtus, which is still going today. Tommy sadly passed away in 1994 after a long battle with leukaemia.
