I Just Love Skiffle Various Artists 3 CD Set

2014 sees the 60th anniversary of the first skiffle recordings made in the UK - by the Ken Colyer Skiffle Group. Skiffle grew out of performances made in the breaks at trad jazz concerts, when the man who would become the skiffle master, Lonnie Donegan, would play banjo accompanied by washboard and tea-chest bass, delighting audiences so much, that skiffle soon became what they had arrived to see. Skiffle in general, and Lonnie Donegan in particular, can lay claim to being responsible for the explosion in interest in music among UK teenagers of the late-50s, including many of the biggest rock stars ever.
