The Monks Of Glenstal Abbey Calming The Storm CD
The Monks Of Glenstal Abbey Calming The Storm CD
Calming The Storm - selection of prayer from the Glenstal Book Of Prayer with newly composed meditations on the Icons and Gregorian Chant, is a rich resource for the dark, mysterious, but exciting journey which is prayer. It draws on things both old and new : on the wisdom of the Bible, enshrined in Benedictine liturgy, on the experience of modern monks, and on the wisdom of the Christian church throughout her long and varied history. Coming as it does from an Irish monastery it reflects in a special way the Celtic tradition with its earthy, popular and devotional prayers.
The whole sweep of prayer from the needs of the individual to the rhythms of the day and night are provided for. Our hope is that the duet sung by the Spirit and the human heart can expand into a cosmic hymn of praise to God, Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier of the world. Then the goal of Benedict himself will be fulfilled and God will be glorified in all things. " Let us lift up our hearts and give thanks to the Lord our God".
Glenstal Abbey is a Benedictine Community located in Murroe, Co. Limerick, Ireland. The Abbey was founded in 1927 from Maredsousin Belgium and became the first Benedictine Community in Ireland since the Reformation.
